boxes were getting expensive, which is weird, since you're still getting it back in a new box..

wow, that's rather cheap ass. i work in shipping and when a mfg is cheapin' on the corrugate they're realling analyzing costs.
then again those recent articles on their return rate and their commitment to fix all the first wave models is costing them big bucks i'm sure.

My box died for the 3rd time this weekend (Once every year). My warranty runs out in December and theyre going to give me three months more warranty, which is around 7 months short of what i need.
The problem is that they use a cheap Thermal Paste to keep the CPU and GPU from overheating (fixes available all over the net) but all MS do is replace the motherboards.
Also (given your background) do you think i could get any compensation for the thing dying three times Munkay?

Seventeen dollars! It cost me $17 out of my own pocket to fix a problem i didn't cause. Thats what the ups store charges to box up your xbox. Shipping however, is free. :rolleyes:

I just bought a cardboard box for 3 bucks when I had to ship mine.
The UPS guy was pleased with my packing skills.

Got a new xbox back today. Its got a Service date (Manufacture date?) of 21st may 2009. The letter accompanying it says ''Due to the time involved in completing the service we have decided to replace the console'' Looks brand spanking new. Hope they fixed the overheating thermal paste/x-clamp problem |
